My garage/carport doesn’t seem to have much space between the door opening and ceiling (headroom), can I fit a garage door?

Possibly. Headroom is only one of the measurements: side room, ceiling depth, brackets and the selected opener also matter. Flex-A-Door may suit some restricted-headroom installations; sectional doors have configuration-specific tracks. We need a site assessment before confirming a fit.

Should I use a professional installer?

Yes. Door installation, spring tensioning, supporting fixings and opener setup require a trained professional. Our manufacturer warranty has specified installation conditions, including B&D or a B&D Representative under the general terms. These terms sit alongside your statutory consumer rights; those rights remain additional to our warranty.

I want to replace my old door, but don’t know how to dispose of my old one. Will my B&D dealer take care of that?

Ask for removal and disposal to be included in the written quote. Many installers provide it for an additional charge, but the price and scope must be agreed for your job.

Are all door sizes available?

Doors are made to measured openings within each model’s limits. They are not available in every size or every finish/size combination. Compare the roller model tables and sectional profile tables, then confirm overlap, usable opening, wind requirements and installation clearances.

I have a local dealer selling B&D product, can I trust them?

Confirm the business is an Accredited B&D Dealer using our main-site dealer listing or call 13 62 63. Ask the dealer to identify the exact products, installation scope, warranty and service arrangements in writing.

What payment methods do you use?

Payment options can include EFTPOS, credit card and direct deposit. Confirm the accepted method, deposit, payment timing and any applicable charge with the supplying dealer before ordering; arrangements can vary between businesses.

What is the difference between a roller door and sectional door?

A roller door’s continuous curtain coils above the opening. A sectional door’s hinged panels travel along overhead tracks. Roller doors preserve more ceiling space farther inside the garage; sectional doors offer model-specific profiles, windows, finishes and insulation options. Both need measured installation clearances.

How much does a roller door cost?

Allow about $2,000–$3,500 for a single roller door alone, with roller openers at $750–$1,000 for a single opening or $750–$1,500 for a double. Installation is additional. For a double roller door, ask us for a measured quote so we can confirm the door, opener and installation cost for your opening. See our price guide for what to include in your budget.

How much does a sectional door cost?

For a sectional door alone, allow about $2,500–$4,000 for a single and $4,000–$6,500 for a double, with sectional openers about $850–$1,300. Installation and selected upgrades are additional. See the price guide and confirm the complete specification and total in writing.

Can I replace a single panel or section of my door, or do I need to replace the whole door?

Sometimes. We assess the door’s model, age, panel availability and the extent of damage. Damage to supporting parts can change the repair recommendation. A new panel may not match an aged colour or timber-look pattern exactly. Contact the original dealer with your records or arrange a repair before ordering a replacement section.

Can I add B&D garage door to a different opener?

We recommend choosing your B&D door and opener together. If you want to keep an existing opener, your installer will check its model, load, track and safety requirements against your new door. Eligible Total Confidence packages require the matching door and opener in the same transaction and the other stated conditions.

Can garage doors be painted?

Ask us about the exact material and finish before repainting. Surface preparation, coating suitability and warranty consequences differ; a generic repainting method is not appropriate for steel, wrapped timber-look and designer-clad doors alike. Compare factory finishes if you are selecting a new door.

Can you match the garage door colour with the guttering/fascia of my house?

We offer named colours and finishes, including COLORBOND colours, but screens and different materials can look different in the same light. Compare a physical sample with your roof, fascia and walls, and confirm the exact finish on the selected door.

My garage door goes down and then goes back up again, what is the issue?

Reversal during closing can follow an obstruction, beam interruption or a problem with door movement. Remove a visible loose obstruction only when safe; stop if there is damage or the problem repeats. Use the reversing guide. Do not raise force settings or bypass a beam to make it close.

Why is my garage door making loud noise?

A squeak, scrape or rattle can indicate dirt, wear or a mechanical issue. If travel is uneven or the sound is new and severe, stop using the door. Read the component-specific care guide and arrange assessment if the symptom persists.

I've just moved into my new home and my garage door isn't running smoothly, what should I do?

The door may have been installed well before handover and exposed to building dust or impacts. Keep the installation records and ask for an assessment if it is not moving smoothly. Even in a new home, have any change in operation checked.

Why isn't my garage door opening?

First check for damage, then compare which controls work and note power/indicator behaviour. A battery, uncoded remote, disengaged drive, lock or mechanical problem can produce different symptoms. Follow the model-aware troubleshooting guide rather than repeatedly cycling the opener.

What garage door do I need for my high wind regions & terrain Australian building category?

We need the assessed site wind requirements and the exact tested door configuration, dimensions, guides and fixings. A region label alone does not approve every standard door. Compare wind-rated roller doors and Storm-Shield with the project’s required engineering documentation.

I live in bushfire prone area; do you have a solution for me?

BAL-Maze is a tested sectional-door sealing arrangement for specified configurations. Your assessed BAL, base door and installation must match its documentation. Its rating applies to the tested door system, and does not make the whole home fireproof or protected in every bushfire.

What style of sectional door should I choose?

Start with your home’s architecture, then compare the named profile, texture and colour in a physical sample. Compare Panelift and Icon for equipment and profile differences; designer finishes have their own construction and size restrictions.

What customisation options are available for sectional doors?

Depending on the model, choices include profile, smooth/woodgrain texture, named colours, timber-look or designer finishes, selected windows, insulation, seals and automation. These are permitted combinations, not unlimited customisation: windows, cladding, insulation and wind-rated construction need to be checked together.

How does a high-quality garage door enhance home security?

Security comes from the specified door, guides, compatible opener and locking arrangement working together. Consider sectional AUTO LOCK or the complete Roll-A-Door Secure system. Smartphone access is a control feature; it does not by itself add a physical lock.

Why is my garage door opener beeping and flashing?

Identify the model and light first. Normal travel indicators, coding feedback, maintenance reminders and faults are different. On the specified SDO-6V3/7V3/9V3 models, the main-light warning table also differs from MODE-on diagnostics. Read the complete indicator guide.

How do I select the right garage door opener?

Match the mechanism, door area and weight, balance, installation space and intended use. Compare Power Drive and Roll-A-Pro for rollers and Secure, Smart and Smart Pro for sectional doors. Smart Pro’s higher listed load limit does not approve every designer door without an installation check.

How long does a garage door opener last?

Service life depends on usage, condition and maintenance; warranty length is not a promised lifespan. Our standard residential cover is 5 years/10,000 cycles for Roll-A-Pro, 7 years/20,000 cycles for Power Drive and Secure/Smart, and 7 years/30,000 cycles for Smart Pro, whichever comes first. My opener is running but door isn’t moving?

A sound door may have been manually disengaged, but a motor or drive fault can also cause this symptom. Identify the mechanism and use the rolling guide or the sectional guide for the models covered. Stop if it does not reconnect or the door is damaged.

Why won’t my garage door open when I press the button?

Compare another known-working control if the door is sound and the opening is clear. If only one control fails, check its battery and compatibility. If all controls fail, record power and warning indications. Use the full troubleshooting sequence.

Should I service my garage door opener?

Yes. Our general guidance recommends a B&D Representative service within 12 months after installation and every two years thereafter. Follow the actual product instructions and usage needs, and act earlier if operation changes. Keep the records required for your applicable warranty.

Can I add a new B&D opener to a different brand of garage door?

We recommend pairing our doors and openers as a matched system. If you want to use another brand, an installer must assess the mechanism, load, balance and protective requirements. Mixed-brand installations are not eligible for our matching B&D Total Confidence package.

How do I troubleshoot a garage door opener that's not responding to the remote control?

Check the model and whether another compatible control works before re-coding. Replace a battery only with the type specified for that transmitter. Use the matching coding procedure if needed; erasing all remotes is not a default fault-finding step. Read the control comparison guide.

Why is my garage door opener making unusual noises?

Stop repeated operation if there is grinding, scraping, stalled movement or visible damage. The door and opener need to be assessed together; lubrication will not fix every noise. Read the care guide or book a service.

Can I install a smart garage door opener myself, or do I need to hire a professional?

Use a trained professional for fitting the opener, mounting hardware, travel/force setup and protective devices. An owner may follow the matching guide for permitted tasks such as coding a remote; that does not make installation or spring adjustment a DIY task.

What is the automatic closing feature of garage door openers?

Auto-close closes your door after a configured time or beam-trigger sequence on supported models. Compatible Safety Beams must be installed and working. Power Drive supports the function covered by our shared rolling manual; Roll-A-Pro does not. Continue to check that your door has closed and is secure.

What is smart home integration, and how can it benefit my garage door opener?

A compatible hub/app can provide supported door status, alerts and authorised remote operation. Connectivity and integrations depend on the opener and hub generation, app and network. Check the smartphone-control requirements before assuming a particular voice assistant or smart-home platform is supported.

What safety and security considerations should I keep in mind when integrating smart home technology with my garage door opener?

Use the required compatible Safety Beams, keep the opening clear, secure the account and review authorised users. Out-of-sight operation requires its specified protective setup. Keep the app and supported devices maintained; do not disable a safety input to make remote operation work.

What is rolling code technology, and why is it important for garage door openers?

Rolling/encrypted-code systems are intended to resist simple reuse of a previously transmitted radio code. Our listed current remotes use Tri-Tran+ technology with a compatible receiver. Radio coding does not make all remotes interchangeable or replace physical locking and careful access management.

How do I duplicate an existing B&D sectional garage door remote?

Keep transmitters secure and remove access when a control is lost or occupants change. Review radio remotes, wall controls, keypad access and app users separately. Do you provide free quote for service?

Ask about call-out, diagnosis and service charges before booking. Labour, parts and the fault can change the scope. The complimentary measure-and-quote offer for a new door does not establish that repair visits or servicing are free.

How do I organize a service or repair for my garage door?

What does a garage door service involve?

It can include checking the door’s movement, condition, fixings, spring balance, opener settings and installed protective devices, with appropriate component lubrication. Allow around 30 minutes for a standard visit; repairs and parts may need separate quoting. Read the service scope.

We take commercial service enquiries, but availability and scope depend on location, door size, usage, model and parts. Give the provider the mechanism, operator and typical operating duty before booking.

Cleaning, owner checks and professional servicing help identify wear and maintain operation. They reduce avoidable problems but do not guarantee that a door cannot fail or cause injury. Act on a change in noise, resistance or movement rather than waiting for the next due date.

What is the warranty on B&D garage door?

Cover varies by model, application and component. Eligible Total Confidence requires a matching door and opener bought together, specified installation, registration, care and servicing. Year/cycle pairs end when either limit is reached first. What is your return policy? Or I’m not happy with my B&D garage door what I do?

Contact the supplying dealer or our support team with the order, model, photographs and a description of the concern. We assess the applicable warranty, sale terms and consumer rights. Change-of-mind returns for made-to-measure products depend on the applicable sale terms and rights.

How long will it take to install my garage door?

Installation typically takes around one to three hours, depending on complexity. Ask your installer for the actual scope and timing; removal, electrical/building work and unusual access can change it. Installation time is separate from manufacturing and delivery lead time.

Power outages

What should I do in the event of a power failure ?

First distinguish a power outage from door damage. A compatible charged backup battery may support limited operation. Without it, use only the manual-release procedure for your exact sound door/opener and any separate lock. Do not release a damaged or partly open unsupported door, try random release directions or apply garage-door instructions to a gate motor.

How do I manually open a B&D roller garage door?

For Power Drive RDO-1V4 and Roll-A-Pro RDO-1V3, pull the handle down to disengage and down again to re-engage. Start with a sound closed door and check separate locks. Read the complete rolling-door procedure before operating it.

How do I manually open a B&D sectional garage door?

What is B&D AUTO LOCK™ technology?

Sectional AUTO LOCK is a compatible physical locking system that operates with the specified opener. Door, opener generation, lock hardware and fitting arrangement must be confirmed. Roll-A-Door Secure uses its own complete system; a sectional lock is not a universal roller retrofit.

What is the difference between shut and locked? How do I know if my garage door is locked?

A closed door is not proof that a separate physical lock is engaged. Check the installed mechanism and its model-specific indications. A manually disengaged opener no longer provides its normal holding/locking function. Ask us to identify the setup if you cannot confirm it; do not pull hard on a door to test resistance.

Do all B&D doors lock?

The available locking arrangement depends on the door and opener configuration. Ask for the actual manual or automatic locking equipment to be named in the quote. AUTO LOCK compatibility and the complete Roll-A-Door Secure package should not be generalised to every existing door.

What is a safety beam?

Safety Beams use an aligned transmitter/receiver path across the opening to detect interruption. With the specified configuration, an interrupted beam prevents closing or makes a closing door reverse. It only detects its beam path, not every object everywhere. Compatible beams are required for the specified out-of-sight and auto-close functions; keep them working and correctly configured.

How can garage door openers improve my home security?

A compatible opener controls movement and may provide its listed backdrive/security functions. Automatic Reverse is an obstruction-protection function, not a physical security lock. Compare the actual package and any AUTO LOCK or Secure system rather than assuming every motor includes every protection feature.

How do I set up my Smart Phone Control Kit for my B&D opener ?

Identify whether the system has an integrated hub or an external compatible Smart Hub. Confirm the required Safety Beams, network coverage and commissioned door limits first. The matching guide and current B&D app then lead you through connecting the hub to the home network and testing access. Read the hardware-specific setup information. Do not change door limits as part of app setup.

How do I change the wifi network on my existing B&D garage door opener ?

Use the network-change process for the actual hub/opener generation in the current app or its guide. Have authorised account access and the new network details ready. A network change is not a reason to erase all radio remotes or reset the motor’s travel settings. If the app does not match the guide, contact us with the hub and opener details.

How do I setup Siri on my B&D opener?

We’ll help you check whether Siri integration is supported by your current B&D app, phone software and installed hub or opener. Confirm that your version has the function before following an older video, and keep the required compatible safety equipment installed for remote operation.

Garage Door Insulation

Do I need insulation for my garage door?

Insulation may be useful if you use the garage regularly or want the thermal/acoustic characteristics of an eligible insulated door. Consider the whole garage, including other walls, roof, gaps and ventilation. Compare Insul-Shield and seals for the tested assembly and ordering restrictions.

Can you add insulation to an existing garage door?

Our Insul-Shield offering must be specified with an eligible new sectional door; it is not offered as a generic retrofit to an existing door. Do not add weight or panels to a door without an approved assessment of its balance and opener.

How does garage door insulation work?

Insul-Shield helps resist heat transfer through the specified door construction. Our tested construction has an R1.4 value and an 18 dB acoustic rating. Your garage’s temperature and noise improvement depend on the whole space, so these are not guaranteed room-temperature changes or an 18 dB improvement over every uninsulated door.

Is it worth the extra cost to buy an insulated garage door?

Think about how you use your garage and what you’d like to improve. We can quote an eligible insulated door, but the rest of the building also affects the result. We cannot predict a particular energy-bill saving or payback period from door figures alone.

What is R-value and U-value, and how do they impact garage door insulation?

R-value expresses thermal resistance: higher generally means more resistance to heat flow. U-value expresses thermal transmittance: lower generally means less heat flow. Compare figures measured for equivalent complete constructions and test conditions; do not treat a material-only value as a whole-garage performance rating.
