Wind-Rated Roll-A-Door

For an exposed property, the right door is about more than a strong curtain. Our wind-locked roller-door systems combine curtain clips, compatible guides and the right fixings to help keep the door in its tracks under wind pressure. We’ll match the complete installation to your site and building requirements.

How the wind-locking system works

Clips on the curtain engage with specially designed guides under wind loading. The system provides resistance to inward and outward pressure. Its performance depends on the certified door size, model, guide, fixing and wall construction; a standard roller door does not become wind-rated simply because it has an automatic opener.

Our roller curtain coils above the opening, keeping the ceiling farther inside the garage clear. Nylofelt running strips support quiet, greaseless movement. Buffered steel stops, guide blocks and a deep-cushion weatherseal help the door operate smoothly and reduce the entry of leaves and water. The seal does not make the garage floodproof.

Choose the model for the required wind region

Residential modelWind-region coverageImportant limit
Squareline Deluxe R1D / R3WA, B and C in the September 2026 matrixRegion D suitability must be confirmed for the door size on its certification drawing
Traditional Low Profile R2L / Wideline R2WA, B, C and D in the matrixEligibility depends on certified size and substrate
Rollmasta R1P / R3FA, B and C in the matrix15,000-cycle Rollmasta design and its own warranty
Neo R1NWindlock not listedDo not substitute standard Neo for a certified wind-locked door

Bring the project’s required wind classification to the measure and quote. A regional map is only an initial guide: terrain, shielding, topography, building geometry and opening size affect the specified system. We will confirm the certification applicable to the actual installation.

Standard dimensions and wind-rated installation limits

ModelStandard model size limitsProfile
Squareline single R1DUp to 3,000 mm high × 3,150 mm wide83 × 16 mm
Squareline double R3WUp to 3,000 × 5,500 mm83 × 16 mm
Traditional R2WUp to 3,000 × 5,500 mm76 × 20 mm
Low Profile R2L2,400 mm high; up to 3,300 mm in WA; 5,500 mm wide76 × 20 mm

We’ll confirm the wind certification for your selected size. Windlocked Series 1 needs 140 mm opener-side room, 130 mm plain-side room and 55 mm overlap in our current specification. Series 2/3 can need 200–220 mm opener-side room and 185–205 mm plain-side room, with 55–68 mm curtain overlap depending on steel or masonry substrate. Allow additional room for Toro installations. Maximum model dimensions alone do not establish the wind rating.

Bring your colour ideas to us and compare a physical sample alongside your home’s finishes. We’ll confirm availability for your door size, profile, manufacturing location and installation, including any surcharge. Screens, lighting, timber-look patterns and weathering can affect appearance, so an exact match to another building product cannot be guaranteed.

Automation and customisations

Your wind-rated door’s opener is an additional purchase. Power Drive is a recommended residential option where its size and load limits fit; larger or heavier configurations may need Hiro or a specified industrial opener. Strong winds can trigger an opener’s obstruction protection, so a wind rating does not promise unrestricted powered operation during a storm.

Warranty and maintenance

We back Wind-Rated Roll-A-Door with the cover below. Springs have a separate design-cycle rating and warranty period, and component limits still apply.

CoverPeriod
Standard residential cover5 years or 30,000 cycles, whichever occurs first
Eligible Total Confidence package10 years or 30,000 cycles, whichever occurs first
Commercial useRoll-A-Door commercial cover is 1 year or 30,000 cycles; Rollmasta has separate limits

For Total Confidence cover, purchase an eligible genuine B&D door and opener together, have both installed by a B&D Representative, register the purchase as soon as possible, and arrange the required service within 12 months and every two years thereafter. Use, care and maintenance conditions apply; adding an opener later does not automatically qualify an older door for a new ten-year warranty.

Seals, springs and lifting cables have separate one-year component cover. Opener accessories and rails also have separate terms. Keep the purchase, installation and service records. Please check your warranty for exclusions, including normal wear, damage, unsuitable use and corrosion. The warranty is additional to your applicable consumer rights.

Keep the opening clear, watch the door until it finishes moving and keep children away from the moving curtain, tracks and controls. Arrange professional attention if the door becomes heavy, noisy, uneven or damaged. Springs, cables and brackets are under load; adjustments belong with a qualified installer.

Wash exposed door surfaces and follow the owner handbook for cleaning sheltered areas. Coastal salt and industrial fallout need extra care; properties within one kilometre of a corrosive environment need specific advice. Keep running surfaces clean and follow the product instructions for lubrication rather than greasing nylon running strips. Ask us to set a maintenance schedule appropriate to use and exposure.
