Our story and approach

Our story began in 1946 with Arthur Byrne and Paul Davidson’s steel-fabrication business in a relative’s garage. Ten years later, we introduced the original Roll-A-Door at the Sydney Home Show. In 2026, we’re celebrating 80 years of Australian ingenuity, with a range spanning roller and sectional doors, automation, remote access and security upgrades.

We design our doors and openers to work together, making it easier to build the right combination for your home. Our Accredited Dealers will help you choose compatible accessories and check the complete installation against your opening and daily use. We’re there beyond the purchase too, with product-specific warranties, manuals and installation information.

Our doors are designed to be Original, Safe, Reliable, Quiet and Smart. From Nylofelt running strips for smooth movement to pinch-free sectional panels, automatic locking and connected control, we put those qualities to work in features you use every day. The features included depend on the product and package you choose.

Understanding our garage door types

The way a door opens affects the space it needs, its appearance and the options available. We start with your opening, headroom and side clearances, then consider the look and functions you want.

Door type

How it opens

Why you might consider it

What we need to check

Roller door

A steel curtain rolls around a drum above the opening.

A practical rolling format that leaves the ceiling farther inside the garage clear of horizontal door tracks.

Space for the roll, side clearances, opening dimensions, profile and opener.

Sectional door

Hinged panels travel up and along tracks beneath the ceiling.

A broad choice of panel profiles, finishes and compatible window or insulation options.

Headroom, ceiling-track space, door weight and your chosen options.

Flex-A-Door

A flexible steel curtain follows tracks into a horizontal position inside the garage.

An alternative to investigate when replacing a tilt door or dealing with limited headroom.

Both headroom and the horizontal space needed for the curtain and tracks.

Commercial door or shutter

Operation depends on the selected rolling, sectional or shutter system.

Access for business premises with application-specific size, control and duty requirements.

Opening size, operating frequency, traffic, mounting structure and the specified drive equipment.

A product’s maximum size does not by itself establish that it will fit your property. We check the complete installation, including any requirements for the building’s location and exposure.

Our residential roller doors

Our roller-door range includes everyday residential options, contemporary profiles and a complete automatic-locking system. The products share a rolling format, but their appearance, locking arrangements and available configurations differ.

Roll-A-Door

Our original Roll-A-Door range combines a steel curtain with Nylofelt running strips to help the door move smoothly and quietly. We offer different profiles and configurations across the range, including single and double doors. Your choice of model determines the available dimensions, finish and automation options.

It is a useful starting point when you want a familiar roller-door format and a choice of colours. We can specify a compatible opener when you want remote-controlled operation.

Explore our Roll-A-Door range

Roll-A-Door Neo

Our Neo profile gives a roller door a broader, contemporary curtain design with a sectional-door-inspired appearance. It is a single-door option for customers who want that look while retaining the way a roller curtain opens above the doorway.

We include Power Drive with the Neo configuration listed in our residential rolling-door specifications. The finished door and opener still need to be assessed against the opening and installation requirements.

Explore Roll-A-Door Neo

Roll-A-Door Secure

We developed Roll-A-Door Secure as a complete four-part locking system. Dual AUTO LOCK, security guides, a reinforced bottom rail and a B&D-specified opener work together to help resist forced entry, tampering and impact. The locks engage automatically when the door closes.

We offer Neo in single-door sizes and Deluxe in single- and double-door sizes. Finish availability varies by configuration; for example, our Timber Coat finishes are available for Secure double doors only.

The security components are part of a complete new system. We cannot retrofit them to convert an existing roller door into Roll-A-Door Secure. The system also has its own warranty terms, distinct from our general door, opener and accessory cover.

Rollmasta

Our Rollmasta range gives you another made-to-measure roller-door option to consider for your home or shed. We distinguish the residential single and double models from light-industrial configurations when specifying a door. Their size limits and intended use are not interchangeable.

Flex-A-Door

Our Flex-A-Door combines a flexible steel curtain with a track arrangement that takes the door into a horizontal position inside the garage. It is an option to assess where headroom is limited or you are replacing a tilt door. We need to check the space behind the opening as well as the available headroom.

Our sectional doors and designer finishes

Our sectional doors give you a different architectural appearance and a wide range of profile and finish choices. We can help you coordinate the garage door with your façade, windows, roof and other exterior materials.

What distinguishes it

Selection considerations

Panelift

Our sectional-door range with a choice of profiles and colours and a pinch-free panel design.

Compare the profile, finish and compatible options; sectional AUTO LOCK is an optional extra.

Panelift Icon

Our premium sectional-door range, with AUTO LOCK included as standard.

Explore the available profile and finish combinations, plus compatible window and insulation options.

Wooden and timber-look finishes

Timber-inspired colour and texture across selected door and finish combinations.

Choose the finish for the actual door profile; a timber-look steel finish is different from a solid timber door.

Natural finishes

Selected finishes inspired by materials such as stone, concrete and rusted metal.

These describe the finish appearance, rather than a door constructed from stone or concrete.

Sheer Panel

An aluminium-composite finish option with a distinctive panelled appearance.

Confirm the available colours, layout and compatible door configuration.

Profiles, windows, insulation and finishes cannot always be combined freely. We will confirm the available combination for your selected door before it is ordered. Our visualiser helps you explore the appearance, while a physical sample gives you a better indication of the actual colour and finish.

Options for bushfire and high-wind requirements

Some properties need a door system selected for a particular environmental exposure or building requirement. We offer specialist products for those conversations, including BAL-Maze, Storm-Shield and Wind-Rated Roll-A-Door.

Our BAL-Maze system is a door-and-seal arrangement for specified sectional-door configurations. Our Storm-Shield and wind-rated rolling products use their own construction and installation requirements. We assess the relevant model, size and installation details against the documentation for the application.

Tell us about any bushfire assessment, wind classification or project specification at the start of your enquiry. A general product name or headline rating is not enough to select a compliant installation, and an opener does not give an ordinary door a wind or bushfire rating.

Our openers and automation

We match an opener to the door’s type, dimensions, weight and intended use. A more powerful motor is not a substitute for a door that is correctly balanced and in good working order. We also consider which controls and upgrades you want, so your quote identifies the whole package.

Included

Power Drive and Roll-A-Pro are roller-door openers; Secure, Smart and Smart Pro are sectional-door openers. Product names alone do not confirm compatibility with an older door or accessory. We will identify the model and required equipment for your installation.

Our standard residential packages and our complete Roll-A-Door Secure system also need to be distinguished. Secure’s dual locks require the opener specified for that system, so you should not assume an existing roller opener can be retained.

How our safety and security features work

Safety around a moving door and resistance to forced entry are different functions. We offer features for both, with availability depending on the door, opener and package.

Automatic locking

Our sectional AUTO LOCK uses a physical bolt that engages after a compatible sectional door closes and retracts before it opens. It is standard with Panelift Icon, included with the Smart Pro package for a compatible installation, and optional on other supported combinations.

Our Roll-A-Door Secure uses dual locks as part of its own complete roller-door system. We keep those two arrangements distinct when specifying an upgrade or a new door.

Obstruction detection

Automatic reverse responds when a closing door encounters an obstruction. Safety Beams provide an additional detection method: an object breaking the infrared beam can prevent closing or cause the closing door to reverse, as specified by the installed system.

We require the applicable Safety Beams for smartphone operation and Auto-Close configurations. The doorway must still be kept clear, and the equipment must be maintained and tested according to its instructions.

Pinch-free panel design

Our Panelift and Panelift Icon sectional doors use a pinch-free panel design to reduce the risk of fingers being caught between panels. It is one part of the overall design; everyone should remain clear of a moving garage door.

Controls and access

Our range includes handheld remotes, wall controls and compatible entry keypads. We also offer emergency-access options for installations where the garage has no separate pedestrian entrance. We will help you choose the access arrangement for your property, including what happens during a power outage.

Explore our safety and security options

Smartphone control, backup power and other upgrades

With compatible smartphone-control equipment, you can use our B&D App to operate and monitor your garage door remotely and manage access. The system needs its required power, network connection and safety equipment; app control is not an offline replacement for a working opener.

Smartphone control is included with our Smart and Smart Pro packages and is an optional upgrade on Power Drive and Secure. We will confirm the compatible kit for an existing installation rather than assume all opener generations support the same accessories.

Battery Backup is included with Smart Pro and available as an option on selected other openers. It provides backup operation when mains power is unavailable, subject to the battery’s charge, condition and system requirements. We do not quote one universal number of backup cycles for every installation.

We also offer insulation and seal options on compatible doors. We will identify the applicable door and finish combination and explain any restrictions before including them in your quote.

Our commercial and industrial range

For a business premises, we consider more than the opening dimensions. The number of daily operations, the type of traffic, access controls and the building structure all affect the system we specify.

Our commercial range

What to discuss with us

Commercial roller doors

Required opening, curtain/profile choice, manual or powered operation, usage and any wind requirements.

ToughPanel commercial sectional doors

Panel construction, track arrangement, spring and operating requirements, and compatible drive equipment.

Commercial shutters

Steel or aluminium shutter family, slat configuration, size, finish and method of operation.

Commercial openers

The exact door/shutter application, duty, power supply, controls and required accessories.

A residential opener’s capacity figure or warranty should not be carried across to a commercial project. We will check the product’s intended application and applicable commercial terms, including shared-access and multi-residential installations.

How we help you choose

Building a new home

Bring us your plans and preferred style early. We can discuss the opening, door type, ceiling space and automation before those decisions become difficult to change. We will also need any project-specific wind or bushfire requirements.

Replacing an existing door

Tell us what you want to improve: appearance, noise, automation, security or the way the door uses the space. We can assess whether the opening suits a different door type and whether existing components are appropriate to retain.

Upgrading security or access

Start with your current door and opener model. We can assess a compatible sectional AUTO LOCK retrofit, smartphone-control upgrade, keypad or backup-power option. If you want Roll-A-Door Secure, we will quote the complete new system.

Choosing a finish

Compare the whole façade, not just an isolated swatch. Our Garage Door Visualiser lets you explore designs on your home; our dealers and available mobile showrooms can help you examine product and colour samples.

Measure, quote and installation

We offer a free consultation and measure-and-quote process. You can request a showroom appointment or ask whether our B&D To You mobile showroom is available in your area.

  1. Tell us about the project. Share your location, whether you are building or replacing, and the features you want.

  2. Explore the options with us. We discuss the door, profile, finish, opener and accessories, and check the opening and installation requirements.

  3. Confirm your specified quote. Your selection should identify the actual products and included options, rather than rely on a general range name.

  4. Arrange the next steps. Once you accept the quote and confirm your selection, your dealer coordinates the order, supply and installation. We manufacture the products; your dealer confirms the installation arrangements and lead time with you.

We’ll give you a quote tailored to your door, dimensions, finish, opener, accessories and installation. Ask us about timing when you enquire, so you know what to expect for your particular order.

Our warranties and ongoing care

Our warranty terms distinguish between the door, opener, accessories and complete systems. Eligible door-and-opener purchases can receive our Total Confidence Warranty, subject to the relevant conditions and the earlier of the stated time or cycle limit.

For example, our general residential warranty table lists Power Drive at seven years or 20,000 cycles under standard cover, and ten years or 20,000 cycles under eligible Total Confidence cover. Sectional AUTO LOCK and other listed opener accessories have separate one-year cover under that table.

Roll-A-Door Secure has dedicated terms for its complete system. Its residential Total Confidence period is ten years or 30,000 cycles, whichever comes first; commercial and shared-use applications have different limits.

To qualify for Total Confidence cover, the applicable conditions include installation by a B&D Representative, correct use and care, purchase registration, and professional servicing within 12 months and every two years thereafter. The relevant terms explain the full requirements and exclusions. These warranties are additional to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

A cycle is one complete opening and closing operation. A warranty cycle limit does not predict when a product will reach the end of its working life.

Our service and support network

We support customers through our Australia-wide Accredited Dealer network, with help for new doors, product selection, installation, maintenance and repairs. Use our dealer finder to locate support for your area and confirm the services available locally.

If your door or opener is not working properly, have the model, installation details and a description of the issue ready when you contact us. Our owner manuals and how-to resources can help you identify the relevant instructions. Door and spring adjustments should be handled by an appropriately qualified technician.

For an existing system, regular care includes the checks and maintenance specified for that product. A quiet or smoothly moving door still needs its recommended servicing; the service schedule is not replaced by an app notification or the absence of a fault.

Questions we can help answer

Which of your doors should I start with?

Start with how the opening and garage space can accommodate a door. Our roller, sectional and Flex-A-Door formats use the space differently. Then compare appearance, security, automation and any site-specific requirements. We can work through those decisions during a consultation.

Do all your doors include an opener and automatic locking?

No. Inclusions differ by product and package. For example, our Neo configuration includes Power Drive, Panelift Icon includes sectional AUTO LOCK, and Roll-A-Door Secure is a complete system with its specified opener and dual locks. We will identify exactly what is included on your quote.

Can I add smartphone control to my existing opener?

We need to identify the opener model and generation first. A compatible kit, power and network connection, and the required Safety Beams are needed. Our Smart and Smart Pro packages already include smartphone control.

Can I see the colour before ordering?

Yes. Use our visualiser to explore the design, then ask about a physical sample through your local dealer or an available B&D To You consultation. We will confirm which finishes are available for your door, profile, size and location.

Do you supply doors for businesses and shared garages?

We offer commercial doors, shutters and openers. Tell us about the opening, traffic and expected operating frequency. Shared and multi-residential use may be treated as commercial under the applicable warranty, even when the building contains homes.

Where can I get an accurate price?

Request a free measure and quote. We will help specify the door, finish, opener and accessories for your property, with installation requirements considered as part of the enquiry.
