Why is your garage door opening and reversing by itself?

This is a quick tutorial on what to do if you suspect your garage door is opening or reversing on its own.



Garage doors opening of their own accord are known as 'phantom openings'. This may sometimes  occur from environmental factors like wind, dust or extreme temperature changes.

1. Remove any obstructions and clean around the door as a first step.
   
   The most common reason for a door opening on it’s own is obstructions either detected by safety beams or by the door as it closes. If safety beams are installed check their alignment.
   
   
   
   
2. Ensure the door smoothly runs up and down by watching a couple of door cycles. 

Please undertake all garage door cleaning and maintenance safely.
