Arrange a garage-door service

Give your garage door the care it needs to keep running smoothly. Regular servicing helps us spot wear, check the door and opener together and address changes before they become bigger problems. Have your model, installation date and service history ready so we can plan your visit.

Request a service

Open our B&D service request form or call 13 62 63. The form opens on our main website; the local provider confirms availability and the scope of the visit. If the door is already damaged or unsafe, request a repair and describe the fault.

What a service checks

Technician assessmentPurpose
Door movement, alignment and balanceFind uneven loading, wear or mechanical problems.
Mounting points and fixingsCheck the door, guides/tracks and supporting connections.
Springs and lifting componentsAssess condition and make appropriate professional adjustments.
Opener travel and force settingsCheck operation against the model and installation requirements.
Appropriate lubricationApply the products and method required for the actual mechanism.
Safety Beams, locks and accessoriesTest the installed protective and access equipment.

Allow around 30 minutes for a standard service. Fault-finding, worn parts or other issues may take longer and need a separate repair quote.

When to arrange servicing

We recommend a B&D Representative service within 12 months of installation and every two years after that. For eligible Total Confidence cover, this schedule is a condition alongside correct installation, care and registration.

Use the product handbook and site conditions to determine whether more frequent attention is needed. High usage, corrosive exposure or changed operation may call for an earlier visit; do not wait for the next scheduled date when a fault is evident.

What you can do between visits

Owner checkPractical boundary
Door surfaceClean as directed by the door handbook. Coastal, industrial and sheltered exposure can need more frequent attention.
Visible guides/tracks and beam pathKeep accessible areas free of dirt and obstructions; do not alter brackets or alignment to bypass a fault.
Remote controlsUse the specified replacement battery and coding instructions. Keep controls out of children’s reach.
OperationObserve unusual noise, uneven movement or a changing gap from a safe position; arrange assessment if behaviour changes.
Manual release and safety testsLearn the exact model’s procedure while the equipment is in sound condition. Follow its precautions and testing schedule.

Do not apply grease or oil indiscriminately to tracks, locks, running strips or sensors. Lubrication depends on the door construction and handbook. Spring tension, cable work, track adjustment and opener force/travel setup belong with a trained technician.

Before the technician arrives

Have readyWhy it helps
Door and opener model/versionIdentifies the correct equipment, manual and compatible parts.
Installation date and dealerHelps locate supply and installation records.
Symptoms, lights and soundsAllows us to understand what happened without repeated operation.
Photographs taken from a safe positionHelps describe damage, labels and the installed arrangement.
Service history and purchase recordSupports maintenance planning and assessment of any warranty claim.
Suburb, access and urgencyHelps the local repairer assess availability and the visit.

Keep access to the door and controls clear. Tell the provider about another entrance, restricted access, unusual door weight, high use or any commercial application. Do not attempt spring, cable or balance adjustments to prepare for the visit.

Understand the quoted scope

Ask us what your service price includes, from call-out and planned checks to consumables. Parts, extra labour and repairs may be quoted separately. If we find damaged equipment, we’ll explain any further work needed.

After the visit, retain the date, work performed, parts fitted and any follow-up recommendation. These records help both future servicing and a warranty assessment.

Other brands and commercial equipment

We handle servicing enquiries for B&D and other makes. The local provider confirms parts and service suitability; commercial work also depends on size, usage and location. See our commercial range if you are planning a replacement system.
