These are maximum model limits, not an approval for every door below those figures. The door must be sound, correctly balanced and easy to operate by hand. Our installer also checks clearance, travel, track or drum arrangement and the weight of windows, insulation or cladding. For frequent commercial operation, use our commercial opener range and a site-specific assessment.
Understand the figures behind the model
Power Drive RDO-1V4 lists 600 N short-term peak force; Roll-A-Pro RDO-1V3 lists 500 N. Secure and Smart list 1,100 N, while Smart Pro lists 1,400 N. Peak force is not the continuous operating load or the weight the motor should lift on an unbalanced door.
The sectional manual lists a door travel speed of 180 mm/s for Secure and Smart and 125 mm/s for Smart Pro. Actual movement depends on the installation and load. Choose the complete specification rather than assuming the higher-force opener is also the faster one.
Choose the complete package
Tell us whether you want phone access, a physical lock, power-outage operation or a keypad. Smart and Smart Pro include a Smart Hub; Power Drive and Secure can use the compatible optional kit. Confirm older opener generations separately. Safety Beams must be specified with Smart for out-of-sight operation. We’ll itemise the compatible equipment in your installed quote.
Sectional AUTO LOCK and the Dual AUTO LOCK system in Roll-A-Door Secure are different arrangements. Secure is supplied as a complete roller-door system; its security components cannot be retrofitted to convert an ordinary roller door.
Make safety part of the specification
Our opener instructions require photoelectric beams where closing force at the bottom edge exceeds 400 N (40 kg), and for the specified smart operation outside the user’s line of sight. Your installer must assess the actual force and control method for your model. Door weight and closing force are different measurements. Safety Beams do not replace safe use, and built-in Automatic Reverse does not replace the required beams. Keep people, pets and vehicles clear of the moving door.
Check cover and installation
Our standard residential opener cover is 5 years or 10,000 cycles for Roll-A-Pro; 7 years or 20,000 cycles for Power Drive, Secure and Smart; and 7 years or 30,000 cycles for Smart Pro, whichever occurs first. An eligible Total Confidence door-and-opener package can extend the time period to 10 years; model-specific cycle limits and all other conditions still apply. Accessories have separate cover.
