Use these values for the specified opener models. Smart and Secure support a maximum gross door weight of 235 kg, as given in our installation manual and current Secure page; the automation brochure rounds this to 236 kg. Peak force is different from continuous lifting capacity. Your installer must check door balance and both the area and gross-weight limits.

Connected control and access

Add the compatible Smart Phone Control Kit and Safety Beams if you want app access. Secure does not include the built-in Smart Hub listed for Smart and Smart Pro.

The B&D App can open, close and monitor a compatible door, send operation and extended-open alerts, show an activity history, and manage authorised users. Supported setups include partial opening and time-based access restrictions. Voice operation can use supported Siri or Google Home integration. Features depend on the installed hub, app and compatible equipment.

A suitable smartphone, home Wi-Fi and internet/mobile connection are required for remote functions; a phone is not included. Install and test Safety Beams for out-of-sight smart operation. If the router or internet is unavailable, remote app operation may be unavailable even when the opener still works from a local remote.

Installation and emergency access

We check door balance, tracks, lifting force, headroom, rail length and power supply before selecting the opener. The 57 mm opener headroom is not the complete clearance needed for the sectional door. Manual-release access must remain reachable, especially where the garage has no other entrance.

If your door is damaged, crooked, unbalanced or has a broken spring or cable, stop using it and arrange a repair. Do not disengage an open or unsupported door. Keep people and vehicles clear of the opening.

During a power failure, a charged compatible battery backup can operate a sound door within its available capacity. If manual operation is needed, start with the door sound and closed and follow our Secure SDO-6V3 manual-operation guide. It explains the correct release direction, separate-lock checks and re-engagement before powered operation.

Testing, servicing and warranty

Test the safety reverse monthly using the procedure in your model’s manual. For the residential openers described here, the closing test uses a 40 mm-high test obstruction on the floor; never test with a person. Stop automatic use and book a service if the door fails to reverse. Check Safety Beams separately and keep lenses aligned and clean.

Book the first service within 12 months or the earlier cycle threshold stated in the owner instructions, then follow the required ongoing schedule. Keep the door balanced and easy to move by hand. An opener is not a repair for damaged tracks or failing springs. Keep remotes away from children and replace depleted batteries with the specified type.

For Total Confidence cover, purchase an eligible genuine B&D door and opener together, have both installed by a B&D Representative, register the purchase as soon as possible, and arrange the required service within 12 months and every two years thereafter. Use, care and maintenance conditions apply; adding an opener later does not automatically qualify an older door for a new ten-year warranty.

Opener accessories and rails have separate warranty terms. Keep your purchase, installation and service records and follow the model’s operating limits. Normal wear, damage, unsuitable use and other exclusions are set out in the warranty document. This warranty is additional to your applicable consumer rights.

Opener warranty exclusions include unsuitable or unserviced doors, excess manual lifting force, exceeding door-weight limits and excessive continuous operation. The general terms specify continuous operation exceeding one minute in ten as an exclusion; a technical operating-time rating is not permission to ignore those conditions.
