Indicative door and opener allowances
| Door type | Single door | Double door | Separate opener allowance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Roller door | $2,000–$3,500 | Confirm in a measured quote | Approximately $750–$1,500 |
| Sectional door | $2,500–$4,000 | $4,000–$6,500 | Approximately $850–$1,300 |
Use these published figures as a starting point in Australian dollars. They do not establish today’s installed total for a specific property. Ask us to confirm GST, installation, removal of the old door, electrical work, accessories and any site preparation in your written quote. Different specifications and regional installation conditions can change the result.
For a double roller door, we’ll confirm the price for your measured opening, curtain/profile and finish. Have the opener and installation itemised so you can compare the complete cost.
Start with the door you need
Size, profile, finish and construction affect the door price. A single roller door and a wide designer sectional door are different products with different support and operating requirements. Compare the named model and the actual manufactured dimensions rather than a general description such as “double garage door”.
Colour availability also depends on the model, size and finish family. Use our designs and colours guide to shortlist options, then confirm physical samples and the permitted combination on your order.
Settle important options before manufacture
Discuss insulation and seals, windows, designer finishes, locking and any special track arrangement early. Insul-Shield must be specified with a compatible new door; it cannot be retrofitted, and window and Storm-Shield restrictions apply. Other upgrades have their own compatibility and retrofit rules.
Roll-A-Door Secure is ordered as a complete integrated system. Its locks, guides and security rail cannot be added to an ordinary roller door to turn it into Secure. For a sectional door, confirm the compatible AUTO LOCK arrangement and whether the door or opener package includes it.
Allow for what your garage requires
We measure headroom, side room and backroom, inspect supporting structure and account for floor slope and obstructions. Low-headroom tracks, a tapered door or other configurations need an installation-specific assessment.
Where wind or bushfire requirements apply, provide the assessed classification and project documents. A rated door is specified as a tested configuration with the right dimensions and fixings. It is not simply a standard door with a generic upgrade.
Compare the opener package
Ask for the opener’s exact model, door-area and weight limits, suitable duty, controls and rail or drive arrangement. Power Drive and Roll-A-Pro are residential roller openers; Secure, Smart and Smart Pro serve compatible sectional doors. Commercial duty needs a separate specification.
Smart control, compatible locks, beams and battery backup change the package. Smart Pro currently includes smartphone control, Safety Beams, compatible AUTO LOCK and battery backup. Other models have different inclusions. Our opener comparison pages show the model-specific detail.
Include the required safety equipment
Our opener instructions require photoelectric beams where closing force at the bottom edge exceeds 400 N (40 kg), and for the specified smart operation outside the user’s line of sight. Your installer must assess the actual force and control method for your model. Door weight and closing force are different measurements. Safety Beams do not replace safe use, and built-in Automatic Reverse does not replace the required beams. Keep people, pets and vehicles clear of the moving door.
Have the installer demonstrate safe operation and the model’s checks at handover. A door that is heavy, crooked, damaged or failing a safety check needs assessment, not a stronger motor setting.
Compare warranty terms as well as price
Our standard residential opener cover is 5 years or 10,000 cycles for Roll-A-Pro; 7 years or 20,000 cycles for Power Drive, Secure and Smart; and 7 years or 30,000 cycles for Smart Pro, whichever occurs first. An eligible Total Confidence door-and-opener package can extend the time period to 10 years; model-specific cycle limits and all other conditions still apply. Accessories have separate cover. Read our full warranty conditions for installation, registration, servicing, use and component requirements. A warranty period is not a promised service life.
The door, opener, accessories and installation can have different cover. Have the applicable terms identified on your quote and keep your purchase, registration and service records.
