You can help care for your roller door without taking on spring or opener work. We recommend separating straightforward owner care from a professional service, especially when the door is noisy, uneven or difficult to move.
Start with the door and opener model
A roller curtain, its guides and its opener have different maintenance requirements. Record the door model, opener model and any lock or safety accessory. Our owner-manual library helps you match the instructions to the equipment rather than treating every roller door alike.
Keep owner care simple and specific
Follow the surface-care instructions for the door’s material and finish. Look from a safe position for damage, corrosion or debris, keeping hands away from guides and moving hardware. Do not open a motor housing, loosen brackets or adjust spring tension as part of cleaning. If the door is damaged or its travel changes, stop and ask for an assessment.
Avoid a spray-everything approach
The Power Drive RDO-1V4 and Roll-A-Pro RDO-1V3 manual expressly excludes WD-40, RP-7 and petroleum grease from the door guides. That is a component-specific instruction, not a recommendation to spray all moving parts. Use our care guide and the matching door instructions for the permitted task. Ask a technician if the part or material is uncertain.
What a professional service can cover
A technician can assess movement and balance, the curtain and guides, fixings, opener operation and installed protective devices, then carry out appropriate maintenance or quote repairs. Faults, replacement parts and access can change the scope. Ask what the visit includes and whether call-out or diagnostic charges apply before booking.
Keep servicing and warranty conditions aligned
Our general guidance calls for a B&D Representative service within 12 months after installation and every two years thereafter. Product-specific terms, heavy use and exposure can require earlier attention. Eligible Total Confidence cover has purchase, installation, registration and maintenance conditions; it is not automatically attached to every door-and-opener combination. Keep the applicable warranty terms and service records.
Stop when a simple task becomes a repair
A bulging curtain, broken spring, crooked door or repeated motor stall is a reason to stop use—not to try more force or repeated operation. Do not manually release an unsupported or damaged door. Book routine servicing for a sound door, or arrange a repair for a fault.
