What smartphone control can add

The B&D App can open, close and monitor a compatible door, send operation and extended-open alerts, show an activity history, and manage authorised users. Supported setups include partial opening and time-based access restrictions. Voice operation can use supported Siri or Google Home integration. Features depend on the installed hub, app and compatible equipment.

A suitable smartphone, home Wi-Fi and internet/mobile connection are required for remote functions; a phone is not included. Install and test Safety Beams for out-of-sight smart operation. If the router or internet is unavailable, remote app operation may be unavailable even when the opener still works from a local remote.

Door names such as Panelift or Roll-A-Door do not identify the electronics. We check the opener model, version, hub connection and safety equipment. The kit does not add an automatic opener to a manual door.

What is included in a kit or opener package

Our Smart Phone Control Kit includes a Smart Hub, accessories and Safety Beams. You’ll need your own compatible smartphone. We’ll confirm the kit, mounting equipment and installation setup that suit your opener.

Our Smart and Smart Pro models covered by the linked manual already have a Smart Hub installed. We’ll check what you have before recommending any extra hub. Smart Pro also includes AUTO LOCK and battery backup in the current package.

Plan the connection and installation

When changing your router or Wi-Fi network, reconnect the hub using the applicable setup instructions. Test the connection at the garage rather than assuming the house’s Wi-Fi signal reaches the opener.

Safety Beams and out-of-sight operation

When you operate a door remotely, you may not see a person, vehicle or object entering the opening. We specify the compatible Safety Beams and configure the system for the supported remote functions. A beam protects its aligned detection path; it does not detect every obstruction throughout the garage.

Check the opening is suitable for remote use, review who has access and follow the actual model instructions. Never disable protective equipment to make an app command work.

What happens when power or internet fails

Give access only to people who need it and remove permissions when they no longer do. Protect the app account and phone. Notifications depend on power, network availability and settings, so a missed alert is not proof that the garage is secure.

A closed door, an engaged opener and a physical AUTO LOCK are different security functions. If a compatible lock is installed, check the relevant lock status in its supported setup. Smartphone control alone does not add a locking bolt.

Opener battery backup does not necessarily keep your router and internet running. Keep local remote control and an appropriate emergency access method available.
