Entry keypad: everyday PIN access

Our compatible external keypad operates the garage door using a PIN instead of a handheld transmitter. It can be useful for family members or a short trip without keys. The keypad must match the receiver technology and be installed in the correct location.

Confirm how users and PINs will be managed on the selected model. We’ll confirm the PIN capacity, battery type and weather rating for your selected keypad. These details vary between models and generations. A keypad still depends on a working compatible opener and power supply.

Emergency access when there is no other entrance

Door typeRecommended access devicePurpose
Roller doorRolling Door Combo Access DeviceAllows the specified manual-access arrangement during a power failure or when a remote is unavailable
Sectional doorSectional Door Emergency Key ReleaseProvides external emergency release for a compatible sectional opener/door setup

These are different mechanisms for different door systems. Tell us if the garage door is the only entrance before installation. Have the installer demonstrate access, disengagement, safe manual movement and re-engagement; keep any required key in an accessible secure place.

Do not force a locked, damaged or unbalanced door. Releasing an opener can allow a door with failed springs to fall, so follow the model instructions and keep the opening clear. A physical AUTO LOCK needs its own correct release procedure.

Smartphone and shared access

The B&D App can open, close and monitor a compatible door, send operation and extended-open alerts, show an activity history, and manage authorised users. Supported setups include partial opening and time-based access restrictions. Voice operation can use supported Siri or Google Home integration. Features depend on the installed hub, app and compatible equipment.

A suitable smartphone, home Wi-Fi and internet/mobile connection are required for remote functions; a phone is not included. Install and test Safety Beams for out-of-sight smart operation. If the router or internet is unavailable, remote app operation may be unavailable even when the opener still works from a local remote.

Smart and Smart Pro include smartphone control in their current packages. Secure and Power Drive can use the appropriate optional kit. Older models require an individual compatibility check. See the full kit requirements and model table.

What we check before installation

Care, warranty and support

Review access permissions when occupants or contractors change. Keep the keypad and emergency device clean and unobstructed, replace batteries as specified and test emergency access before it is needed. Ask for the exact model and component warranty on your quote; electronic accessories have separate cover from the door and opener.

Find the right accessory for your system

To help us recommend a suitable setup, have these details ready:

We check compatibility before specifying a kit. A photo of the labels and existing arrangement can help us identify the equipment; your quote should name the supplied kit, installation and any extra safety components.

Your brochures and operating guides

Find the installation drawings, full operating instructions and warranty conditions below. Choose the document that matches your model and supplied configuration, as controls and requirements can differ between generations.
