If your door is unsafe, stop using it

If the door is crooked, off its tracks, has a broken spring or cable, or may fall, keep people and vehicles clear and arrange a trained technician. Do not force the door, adjust springs or cables, or disconnect an unsupported door from its opener. Avoid repeatedly operating a door with suspected mechanical damage.

For urgent help, call 13 62 63 or use our emergency repair contacts. Confirm availability, attendance and any after-hours or call-out charge directly with the provider.

Tell us what your door is doing

You don’t need to diagnose the fault before contacting us. A clear description helps the repairer plan the visit. Note what you can see or hear from a safe position without running the door again to reproduce the problem.

Repair or routine service?

A repair starts with a fault or damaged component. A service checks the condition and operation of the door, opener and installed accessories. If something has changed, tell us when booking rather than waiting for a routine service to become due.

During a service, a technician assesses movement, balance and alignment; mountings and fixings; springs and lifting components; opener travel and force settings; and fitted safety or locking equipment. The work and suitable lubrication depend on the actual door and opener. Additional parts or repair work may need a separate quote.

We recommend servicing by a B&D Representative within 12 months of installation and every two years thereafter. This is also a condition of eligible Total Confidence cover, alongside the other warranty requirements. Your product handbook and operating conditions may require more frequent checks or attention. Read the applicable warranty and care requirements; a product name alone does not establish the same cover for every installation.

Use the instructions for your exact model

Manual-release steps, indicator codes, remote programming and maintenance instructions differ between models and generations. Find the model on the equipment label when it is safe to do so. Don’t use a fault-code interpretation or release procedure for a different opener.

A power failure is different from mechanical damage. Use the matching manual’s release instructions only when the door is safe to operate and follow all precautions. A disengaged opener may no longer hold the door locked. If you are unsure whether manual operation is safe, ask the repairer before attempting it.

Do not spray oil or grease indiscriminately onto tracks, guides, locks or sensors. Care and lubrication depend on the mechanism and handbook. Spring tension, cable repairs, track alignment and opener force or travel adjustments should be handled by a trained technician.

Prepare for the visit

Understand the repair scope and charges

Ask what the call-out or assessment charge covers, how labour and parts will be quoted and whether any after-hours charge applies. The price depends on the diagnosis and work required. A free new-door measure-and-quote enquiry does not mean repair attendance is free.

Before work proceeds, ask the technician to explain the fault and proposed repair. Keep the invoice and service record, including the date, model, work completed and any follow-up recommendation. If you think a product defect is involved, provide your purchase and service records for assessment under the applicable warranty.
