Sealing your roller garage door: choose the right solution
A sound seal can help keep leaves, dust and draughts out of your garage. If gaps have appeared, start by checking why. We’ll help you distinguish a worn seal from a door or floor problem and choose a compatible solution for your roller model.

Look at the door and the opening together
With the door safely closed and stationary, inspect accessible seals from a safe position. Look for splits, missing sections, flattened material and debris preventing normal contact. Record where water or dust enters and whether the gap is new.
If the door sits unevenly, scrapes, reverses repeatedly or becomes heavy, stop using it and arrange an inspection. Do not change opener limits or force settings to squeeze the door onto the floor. A new seal cannot repair a spring, guide or alignment fault.

Our roller-door bottom weatherseals help restrict leaves and water. They do not make the opening floodproof, pestproof or airtight. Persistent water entry can involve the driveway fall, drainage or surrounding construction as well as the door.
Match the seal to the model
Have the door model and photographs ready when you ask for a replacement. Material, profile, attachment and clearance matter; a universal strip may create drag or interfere with the guides or locking system.
Roll-A-Door Secure has dedicated guides, a security bottom rail and dual locks. Any proposed change needs to suit that complete system. Sloping-floor taper options are unavailable on Secure, so we assess the opening rather than applying a standard roller-door modification.
Keep movement and ventilation in mind
Additional sealing can alter resistance to movement. After any approved work, the technician should check balance, travel, locks and the opener’s safety functions. Do not obstruct ventilation required by the building or cover equipment that needs clearance.
If thermal comfort is the main aim, distinguish sealing from insulation. Seals address gaps; insulation slows heat transfer through an eligible door construction. Our Insul-Shield option is ordered with an eligible new sectional door and is not a general roller-curtain retrofit.
Care for the seal you have
Remove loose debris from safely accessible areas using the care method for the fitted material. Avoid harsh chemicals or pressure cleaning around electronic equipment. Have torn, loose or badly deformed seals assessed, and keep the model’s service schedule.
Ask for replacement parts, fitting, inspection charges and any other required repairs to be itemised. Book a repair or explore insulation and seals. We’ll explain what is suitable and what improvement you can reasonably expect.
