The Bend Motorsport Park. A fit for the pit lane.
At The Bend Motorsport Park, we worked with the project team to deliver doors for a demanding, carefully planned facility. A tight clearance at the Welcome Centre called for a practical change to the door specification.

| Construction timeline | Construction began in early 2016; the main circuit was completed in April 2018, with additional precincts opening in 2019. |
| Door scope | Supply and installation of 83 rolling shutter doors for pit-lane and associated service areas. |
| Access requirement | Doors linked to a central location for remote operation. |
| Recorded products | Roll-A-Door Wideline Shutter and Controll-A-Door Power Drive Opener. |
| Clearance solution | R2W Traditional Wideline roller-door specification with adjusted cable-tray positioning. |
The products and arrangements described here relate to the completed project recorded in March 2020.
The challenge: cable trays and limited headroom
On the southern side of the Welcome Centre, cable trays ran close to the headers of the openings, occupying space needed for the doors. The precast structure already had cut-outs in fixed positions for the trays and door mounting.
Major structural changes would have been costly. We worked with the electrical trades contractor and site management to find a way to fit the doors while retaining as much clearance as possible.
Our solution: adapt the installation and door profile
A minor adjustment to the cable trays, combined with a change to our R2W Traditional Wideline door, allowed the installation to fit. Its smaller diameter and alternative profile accommodated the available space between the trays.
This avoided the need for major alterations to the precast structure and maintained maximum clearance for the project’s openings.
Planning for access and future options
The project case study records the Controll-A-Door Power Drive opener and the ability to integrate smartphone control in future. That future capability was part of the selection rationale; the case study does not say smartphone control was installed at every opening.
For a new commercial project, we’ll select the door and opener for the required duty, operating environment and current product specifications. This historical installation should not be used as a general commercial-use specification for today’s residential PowerDrive model.
